"Spectacle"

This piece depicts a mind affected by materialism and a culture of violence. Its environment is set in an area of Brixton South London and the composition of this painting is significant to the psychology of ‘The Estate’. Explorations of mental health is a conversation that is thankfully being had today however there are still aspects and causes yet to be discussed. I believe that people who have spoken about mental health in dominant spaces, so far do not necessarily represent me. This piece is an exploration of my thoughts and feelings towards materialism and violent culture within my environment and it sheds light on my personal experience and observations of the matter.
